Having been a part of other numerous automotive based clubs and groups, and witnessing dozens more, I  can truly say that CT4WD goes above and beyond over what is typically experienced from an enthusiast club.

I don't think anything is as intimidating as a new wheeler is going out on your first trail run unprepared. Although my first runs ever with my Toyota were not with the CT4WD crew, I was thankful enough to have completed the TE&S course before hand. Trail Ethics & Safety, the first course you take when you first become a member of CT4WD, covering the key components, foundation, protocols, and values of CT4WD. I don't know of many other clubs that offer training courses to their members. You can come to CT4WD totally new to wheeling and even new to trucks, and feel welcomed right from the beginning. The vast amount of knowledge that everyone has, and their willingness to teach and share is absolutely outstanding.

I believe the success of CT4WD comes down to it's community of great members. And the willingness that the CT4WD leaders bring about ensuring that each of it's member's have the most fulfilling, and enjoyable experience being a part of the Association.

CT4WD truly sets the bar high for any off-loading community.

When I joined CT4WD, I wasn't yet 18, I had only gone wheeling once, and I had NO idea what I was doing. Thanks to this Association I have been on a dozen or more trips since I joined. I've pushed my truck and myself to our limits, I've met some great people, and had alot of fun.

The people in the club aren't about who knows more, who has the better truck or who has been to the craziest places. Everyone is out there having a good time, helping the people who are less experienced learn to be a better driver, and how to take their vehicles into places that most people would never believe.

So whether its the coffee nights, the Peter's meeting, the BP nights, the training courses (which are awesome), the trail runs, both official and unofficial runs, this is an amazing group with a fantastic attitude.

Everyone with a 4wd should be a member!

For years I drove alone on trails that my “normal” vehicle could get into - and get back out.  I went as far as I could, then I walked.  Now I have a Tacoma, and although I still like to walk in the woods,  I also drive, but I do it with a group of people who love nature as much as I do.

I expected there would be a few crazy drivers, but to my (pleasant) surprise, I was wrong.  I’m very impressed with the quality of the association’s members.  They’re fun, respectful, generous, and are committed to treading lightly. You don’t need to be experienced to join, because CT4WD offers courses and safe opportunities to learn and develop off-roading skills.

Membership is ever-growing.  Couple that with the pro-activeness of the organizers, members are now getting deals from local Toyota dealers and other companies.  Many members are very experienced, and are happy to share their “secrets”, ie, driving techniques, suppliers and service providers that can be trusted, which modifications and which after-market parts are the most reliable and cost-effective.

My truck is still stock, but I will be installing a suspension lift soon, and a few other modifications that will allow me to access more areas with added safety and confidence, and provide years of pure fun!  So, why CT4WD? The people, the experiences, and because it’s a blast!!

I’m addicted, and I’m ok with it!

When I first heard of CT4WD I thought it was a group of hardcore wheelers, but then I decided to go out and met a few of the guys at a Peter's Drive In night and found that they were a group that believed anyone could get out and enjoy the areas around Calgary, go places that few travel and gain a greater understanding of your vehicles ability and how to become a better driver.  This is all done in a positive, educational and respectful manner as everyone learns something new from everyone else, from the first time wheeler in the stock truck to the the long time wheeler with years of experience and built rig, CT4WD has something for everyone.

By offering training courses and other opportunities to learn CT4WD is not only providing a great environment to develop skills and meet great people, but also promotes Safety and Responsibility so that the trails remain open, and that when on the trails we can trust the other members because we all share the same philosophy.

CT4WD is not just a bunch of guys who go and act like total idiots, they are a group that brings their families, friends and significant others and creates a community that brings people together.  CT4WD is not strictly based upon trucks or vehicles we drive but our passion to get out in the wilderness, meet new people, learn, and help others because of the positive experience we have had.

I have learned so much in my short time with CT4WD from the Tread Lightly Principles, to what my truck is capable of doing, ways to reduce costs on maintenance and knowing that there is a group of like minded people that I can turn to for support, answers to a wide variety of questions (from truck questions, to best place to go camping, to random facts), and they are a community that I am proud to say that I am a member of.  When I first joined I had no idea what to expect, I had only heard rumors about 4wheeling groups; that they were exclusive and you had to have a lot of money invested in a truck to even be talked to, but CT4WD is different.  They made me feel welcome and I have to say that I consider everyone in the group close friends because of how positive my experience has been.  In the busy world we live in it is nice to know that their is a group out there that makes everyone feel welcome, provides opportunities for people to come together share a common passion, and also find new passions.

Never under estimate the power of a group of individuals, men and women alike, who have the same goal, passion and destination.  They have the power to move mountains, motivate people, influence organizations and government; all in an extremely powerful, positive way.  That's what CT4WD is to me.  A vibrant, living social network of unified, passionate people.  I keep telling my friends at the club, never under-estimate the social side of this club.  It's the foundation of all we do and the primary reason of all we do.  So I look forward to meeting all those people I have not met and to those I might not meet,

Happy Trails,

I echo the club president Nathan Hayashi sentiments regarding the stigma around 4x4 driving and wheeling in general.  I think that's why I relate so well to the club and all the people associated.  It's CT4WD's mantra to have fun, tread lightly and preserve our trails.  Their perspective regarding this hobby and interest lends itself to an incredibly fun and enjoyable social atmosphere, whether we're on the trails or just hanging out at one of the many monthly group meet-ups.  I encourage any and all Toyota 4x4 enthusiasts to check out the website including all the great pictures and videos… I hope to see you out on the trails soon.

The vibe I get from this association is that they have very strong philosophies and values towards respectful and courteous wheeling and great co-existence with other trail users.  Their training, well I haven't heard of any other club that offers training, at all.  CT4WD's training is great, very informative and I learned a great deal of things that can be applied to use on the trail.  Their trail runs are great and I really appreciate the trail ratings index that they supply on their website.  It gives the potential person joining the trail run a realistic expectation.  Trail runs are well planned and organized, I would much rather go on a CT4WD run than any other run.

I am proud to be a member of this association, had it not been for the forum my truck would still be stock.  I think that speaks volumes.
